Old Men and the Sea

It is shrimping season. All they talk about is shrimp and boats and who caught the biggest shrimp. I could fall in the water and come up three times yelling "help" and they would not notice. They are too engrossed in shrimp.
Notice the white shrimp boots--a trademark of south Louisiana's commercial fisherman.
June 2009-this photo is now in a textbook for students in Georgia.

Hi Coleen. A terrifically colorful and well composed and cropped photo which suggests a plethora of stories ....and your humorous comment about how engrossed these old fishermen are is indeed a great personal touch. Great work. All my best, Michael.

I don't think you will be able to get their attention even with a camera. They are engrossed.

I absolutely love shrimp and I like the photo, but I can't stop laughing at Laine's comment, and I agree with T W, or at least I'd TRY to rescue you, I'd probably sink us both.

"Shrimp is the fruit of the sea"
"You can barbeque it, boil it,
broil it, bake it, saute it,
there's shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole,
shrimp gumbo, pan fry, deep fry,
stir fry, there's pineapple shrimp,
lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp,
pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew,
shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes,
shrimp burger, and shrimp sandwich.
That,... that' about it."

Thou shalt have a fishy on a little dishy,
Thou shalt have a fishy when the boat comes in.

Great shot & narrative to go with :^) I've never seen so many shrimpies in one place!
Love those boots too! Hopefully you know how to swim, my friend!

Isn't it amazing how the shrimp are running? Was this back at Bonnabel today? I tried to get back today but just couldn't make it. Maybe tomorrow........
