Animal Lovers

Bayou St. John in New Orleans

Just as law enforcement personnel and the military did search and rescue for people following Katrina, so did animal rescue groups from all over the United States. I can tell this was not a local group because the "river" is Bayou St. John and the "beavers" are nutria. There are still groups who make daily rounds to feed and water animals whose owners have never returned. Thousands of animals have been shipped to shelters in all parts of the country and owners can search on the web for them.
I carry sacks of cracked corn in my car for the ducks, geese and waterfowl at Lafreniere Park and City Park and bags of cat and dog food for the abandoned animals in the metro area. They are all God's creatures, great and small and their eyes say so much when they see me.

I saw a shot in Joshua Meyers galleries last night. He was feeding the geese and my first impression when I saw it was "those are Coleens geese". I read the comments under the picture then and I was right!
Enjoy the holiday

Coleen, I think it is wonderful that you have been able to express to many people around the world, the feelings here, through your photography. Thank you for this. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Local or not, it's nice to see that the critters of the catastrophe are getting some much needed assistance too! God Speed!
Happy Thanksgiving Blessings to you & yours, Coleen ~
