This view was a blow. Gone are the ten magnolia trees that I planted in 1977 in honor of the first ten Ursuline nuns who came to New Orleans in 1727 from France to open a girls' school. Gone are the red cedars surrounding the mausoleum that were planted in 1910 when the present academy was built. The salt water killed the magnolias and the winds and possibly tornadoes destroyed the cedars.
