Entrance to Bruning's Restaurant

One of the most popular seafood restaurants in West End was washed away by the sea churned up by Katrina. The Bruning house which was over 100 years old sat on a small island just over the bridge on the right. It, too, was washed away. It was a house featured in the movie "The Big Easy."

Coleen, I was recently at this very site. I loved Bruning's. There are so many memories of family gatherings , Mother's day birth days etc. As I stood on the remaning tile floor I could still hear the laughter , great food and pointing out the pelicans to my Neice. Although it is gone it is sadly but truly not forgotten. I wish that there was some way that we could have Bruning's back
