Popp Bandstand in City Park

New Orleans City Park

I never really noticed how pretty this bandstand is until yesterday. Perhaps it is because I was the only person in the Park and could enjoy everything piece by piece. I felt like the girl in "The Secret Garden", discovering new things. Can't you just hear John Philip Sousa tunes played by a military band here?
Except for clearing of the major streets in the Park of fallen trees there has been no other cleanup. It is as though everyone left never to return. Today, I hope to cleanup a small area around the little "famous" stone bridge. I cannot stand it anymore to see it in that condition. I should be cleaning my moldy house in Metairie instead but the outdoors is much more fun.

I am glad you are able to enjoy your park, in spite of the devastation! That is a beautiful bandstand.

Eerily abandoned. It's still majestic though, towering over the scattered branches. A beautiful place, even in this condition.

Oh I remember that bandstand.... it was so cool-I think I almost laid down in the middle to take a pic of the dome. It will come back, it will.
And you be careful cleaning up that mold.

It is a beautiful structure. I sure am looking forward to seeing your stone bridge again in it's glory.
Get that mold out of your house. My husband had a spot on his lung after hurricanes Frances and Jeanne came calling on us last year. It is gone now, and the Dr. said it was possibly mold. It can make you very sick.

very abandoned looking. I'm sure when there is time to get to it, the park will start to recover

Looks Like after some clean up. Maybe they could have a Parade that terminates there, with a band to Play Sousa. I suggest Veterans day. Call the Mayor. Great shot. showing the effects on the neighborhoods. Hang in there it will happen.
