Evacuees from New Orleans were bumper to bumper

Bonnet Carre' Spillway, Louisiana

Vehicles stretched for hundreds of miles as people fled metro New Orleans.
As I reached the eastern levee of the Spillway this was the scene. All of my life I have felt immediate peace at this spot, but this day I only felt fear and terror of the approaching hurricane.

I was in that scene! My sentiments are yours ... except that I never guessed Katrina would produce such devastation. If only I had known ... how afraid I would have been.
