Mississippi River on the Rise - May 3, 2013

Bonnet Carre' Spillway, Louisiana

Water is seeping (rushing) through the cracks in the locks and the front of the Spillway is beginning to fill up quickly. The buttercups are in bloom by the millions and the redwing blackbirds have their nests of eggs in the grasses. Not a good time for the water to ruin it all.

And a lot of water up north coming down the river. Don't know how they figure it but I read the Corps worries more about flooding in Louisiana coming from the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers than from the far north.

Sometimes Mother Nature pulls a fast one, we can only hope for the best for the eggs in the nests and the flowers in the ground. I wish I could say that we had sent you all the water your going to get but we are still over action stage and its heading up! :-( Keep a life preserver handy!
