Four live oaks were planted on Marsh Island this day. Two were donated by Friends of Jefferson the Beautiful and two by Bayou Tree Company. Bayou Tree also furnished 7 hours of labor to plant, mulch, nutria guard and waterbag the trees. One tree and labor amounted to $1250.00 The trees will give shade and protection to the hundreds of waterfowl and herons who inhabit the park and one day, hopefully, will be part of a Rookery, if the nesting birds so choose.
