Call of the Wild

Louisiana Wetlands of St. Charles Parish

The eagles were playing in the Spillway today near the locks and sitting in the trees on the batture in Montz.
This eagle was singing in much the same trill as a mockingbird. I sat and listened to it for almost an hour. He is about 50 feet from the ground.

You are so fortunate to see and hear these magnificent birds. I've never seen anything fly around here larger than a hawk!!!

You would think a large bird like that would have a piercing or loud cry. Great timing to capture him with his beak open. And a fantastic photo.

The eagles who often land in the trees near my condo are nesting near the marina down the road.
