Catholic Church at Carville Leprosarium Taken from Choir Loft

Carville,Louisiana

The walls of this Church absorbed the agony of the patients as they poured out their souls. Many had been wrenched from their home as children, never to leave the confines of the wall and fences of Carville. Many had been taken away overnight from their families, never to return to their spouses and children.
Thankfully, in recent years, medicine has been found to treat Hansen's Disease. It was the people who lived here who were the guinea pigs for research who gladly allowed their bodies to be used if only a cure could be found.
Please read narration at beginning of this gallery for full story of Carville.

Gorgeous classic church with it's architecture and stained glass window. Moving commentary. I hope it gave them solace.
