Where the Mighty Mississippi is Flowing Into Lake Pontchartrain

Shores of Lake Pontchartrain at Bonnet Carre' Spillway

Beautiful but scary. The River water has travelled five miles to get to Lake Pontchartrain and it has not lost any of its speed since it went through the Spllway structure. I have never seen the Mississippi River so high.

Does not look good for Louisiana, last time they were worried about losing the Old River Control structure, wonder if Mother Nature will prevail this time, sending the flow down the Atchafalaya.

Got my fingers crossed for everyone affected. Scary, awesome, and hard to believe all at the same time.

Historic and sad moments for everyone who lives along the rivers. I'm afraid for ya'll.

We can only hope this works! I'm so sorry for all those already suffering loss of homes and vehicles.

We see it every night on the news but living near it is way worse.
