New Orleans' Oldest Part of the City

Bywater in New Orleans

Four years ago I was asked to write about my months of feeding the waterfowl in the City followng Hurricane Katrina. I forgot about it until recently when I was invited to a "book signing" party because the book had finally been published. It is titled "How to Rebuild a City - Field Guide From a Work in Progress" and I have one page of the book.
The party was held in a bohemian original part of the City that I do not frequent at night.
The photo is one I took through the window in the door of the bookstore.

Neat image, Coleen with a ready made frame.

Let me add my voice to the others. I followed the events of Katrina daily from my home in Tennessee. I followed the news and I bought any number of books on the subject, including photo journals. Your pages were the best source of what actually happened. You brought this ex-New Orleanian to the familiar locations of my home town. You covered the damage as well as the slow, painfully slow, repair that is still on going. Check with the LSU Press Coleen. You untiring efforts and your wonderful photo coverage should be published.
I like this photo. It looks like a pointillist painting. Vote

I agree with the others - you should do a book with your images of the Katrina damage and keep the story out there until it's all rebuilt! Very cool image.

That is wonderful, Coleen. You could and should write a book.....not just be part of a book. You have contributed so much to your beloved city. As for the photo......it is magical. From another time....another place.....magic.

Beautifully moody and mysterious. You have so many shots that should be published.

Congrats but your Katrina pics should have a whole book of their own! ;-)

Congratulations and if would have been up to me, I would have published your whole gallery on Katrina!
