Our dear friend, Harriet, died suddenly of a stoke while preparing to attend the ceremony of her twin grandchildren at the Jewish Temple. She was much too young, vibrant and an asset to her community.
This sculpture is in Metairie Cemetery. There are hundreds of these in this historic place and most of them were done by the same sculptor. The way he draped his stone to seem as transparent fabric is amazing.
Many, many of the wonderful works of art in the cemetery were done by a New Orleans sculptor whose own tomb has a beautiful rendition of him with his sculptor tools and on the other side of the tomb is a sculptor of his wife who was a floral designer - http://www.pbase.com/image/93831539.
