Morning on the Bay

Bay St. Louis, Mississippi

I took this last year on a wonderful and beautiful morning just after sunrise to show the newly opened bridge replacing the one destroyed in Hurricane Katrina.
Today this beach is closed because of the oil. Too bad we can't collect it and put it in our pockets; what a waste.
We are having deluges and thunder and lightning because of Tropical Storm Alex. Too much deja vu.
According to our weather specialists, one of whom I live with, the wave action out near the spill can be helpful in breaking up the oil more quickly; however, the wave action also brings it into the shore more quickly. Que sera, sera.

A shame that at this time you only have the memory......

Some clever engineers are not so clever now, it's a bloody disgrace.
Forgive the anglo saxon expletive.

The storm will help break up the oil? I thought it would just spread it around like crazy like a blender. It reminds me of The Cat in the Hat with that pink spot that gets everywhere.

In spite of this tragedy it's still a very impressive bridge. And a beautiful shot you got last year.

you certainly haven't had an easy last few years!

Beautiful image, Coleen. The oil spill is a puzzle with many pieces, so many things to consider, no easy answers.

Nice bridge, nice image, but sad story Coleen. Hope the storm stays away and they get the oil spill under control soon.

Ah, your trials and painful for us all.

We are all hoping that the storm stays away. There is so much at stake!

What a wonderful view! We're having "heavy weather" each week. Seems like the weather gods are restless lately :-(

Watching the storms progress...if it's going to pick up oil in it's wake I hope it dumps it again on the appropriate people :(
