Unusually High Water Overflows into Spillway

River at Bonnet Carre' Spillway

Normally, the area on the right of the trees is dry at this time of the year. Heavy rains in the upper Mississippi Valley have caused the River to rise. It is expected to stay high for at least 10 more days.

Very nicely composed and the sunset colors are beautiful. The wispy clouds sure add to the composition. Very nicely done Coleen.

Nice silhouette of the ships.

Nice shot under any circumstances. I'm especially tuned in because I am just now reading Mark Twain's "Life on the Mississippi." Good book!

WOW, but they're not talking about opening it. The poor people in North Louisiana are still flooded out, the Red and Ouachita are still full of water, the new rains have no place to go.

I was shooting from the other side of the spillway at the exact same time.

that wading bird is making the most of the conditions. Its serenity makes a great contrast to the ships behind.
