Little House on the Bayou

Bayou Gauche, Louisiana

This sturdy little house, made of cypress, has withstood many hurricanes. While riding in the area I noticed many more substantial looking houses that had been destroyed by Hurricanes Ivan and Ike in 2008.
The entire village of Bayou Gauche is owned by one man and everyone leases from him. That must explain why it appears that nothing was ever thrown away at Bayou Gauche, not one boat, one automobile or truck, not one piece of lumber.

other sizes: small medium large original auto

During what time period do you think this house was built in, it would be a great addition to a paper I'm writing for school.

I was surprised to find this image of this little place I had taken a photo of about twelve years ago. I couldn't remember the name of the town so thanks for providing it.
My image was in infrared and it is one of my favorites.
Nice gallery. Please take a peep at my image which I titled Swamp Cabin. Nice to know it
is still standing.

All things the earth takes back to her own! Some just stand the test of time a bit longer.

I see you found my weekend home! HA!

Actually, this looks quite sturdy & after reading your description, I'd say not all things plain are "un"beautiful
Was nothing thrown away at this place because it was that well-cared for . .or more miserly, just won't discard anything?
