Boh Brothers has the contract to repair the road running through the floodway following the opening of the Spillway in April 2008. New culverts were put in place courtesy of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The road was damaged by the billions of tons of Mississippi River water that flowed over it on its way to Lake Pontchartrain during the spring flood.
This road is heavily traveled and spares commuters the trip of adding extra miles to their journey by not having to take Airline Highway.
