Wild mongoose

Brought from India to rid the sugar fields of rats, they quickly helped to decimate some of Hawaii's native bird population.
Rats tend to be nocturnal, mongoose are daytime predators. Another well meant attempt at natural controls gone awry.
These critters are about the size of a squirrel and very fast and skittish. They've been known to outduel cobras.
