Though photography is my #1 hobby, rock climbing is Mark's. He returned to this sport after a 22-year hiatus in July 2005 and I finally succombed to trying it again in September of that year. Actually, my first time rock climbing was on our first date when we were in college...but then Mark developed a passion for hang gliding and the rock shoes got put away.

I have come to really enjoy it because I get outside, it's something Mark and I do together (our lives are literally in each others hands), it provides physical activity, it focuses the mind, and offers plenty of photo opportunities (when there's a third person to free me from belaying the climber). Also I'm finding that people who climb rocks are really neat people. I hope to get better at photographing climbing, it offers challenges of its own such as avoiding the ubiquitous "butt shots".
