To celebrate our recent retirement, Mark and I took a 2-week trip to Maui in January 2007. It was a great time and we did all we wanted to do on this beautiful island. I of course got to take a lot of photos. As you can see, I absolutely loved to photograph the lava-rock-strewn beach at sunset with my wide-angle lens. We stayed in Kihei and the Kama'ole beaches there were very photogenic, having the added advantage this time of year to have the sun set over water, clear of the neighboring islands. We found Kihei to be a reasonable "basecamp" for our explorations and adventures all over the island. Mark did a couple of scuba dives and we snorkled a few times, revelling in the abundance of green sea turtles (called "Honu" in Hawaiian).
