Like many things in life, Seeing Spots Photography started out as a happy accident. In 2002 I started volunteering for an equine rescue that had limited marketing resources – no website, no newsletter and more importantly, no photos of the adoptable animals. My mantra in life has always been that given enough time and drive, we can accomplish almost anything. So, I borrowed a camera with marketing in mind, hoping to make a difference in the lives of the horses I was trying to help.
It changed my life for the better. I have always loved being surrounded by and creating beautiful things. Similar to volunteering my time to the horses, creating beauty feeds my soul and photography is a means to that end. Being behind a camera just feels right. Obviously the passion was there, so I began taking classes/labs and working with mentors.
In 2006 I started ‘Seeing Spots Photography’ (named after my adopted horse, of course!) and now shoot everything from weddings to music promotions to fine art. I also donate my time and photographic services to several non-profit charities, including Second Chance Ranch Equine Rescue (www.scrrescue.org), local chapters of the American Diabetes Association, Habitat for Humanity and Help Portrait, to name a few. I have had art hung and sold in art galleries in both Connecticut and Massachusetts, and given photo talks around the region to help other photo enthusiasts with the technical aspects of creating better images.
I create art using both black & white film and digital photos. Hope you see something you like. Feel free to leave comments – feedback is the only way to get better!
