This fan from a RB-211-524G jet engine was presented by Rolls-Royce plc to the Duke of Devonshire in 1998.
It was made by apprentices at their Derby works.
The RB-211 engine is fitted to Boeing 747 "Jumbo" jets and the 524G model was first used by Cathay Pacific Airways of Hong Kong in 1981,
and later by British Airways and Qantas.
