Quiero que mi madre

CUBA

I want my mother..... returning up Real street, the little girl with her father, but still looking for her mother

Thought that I'd post both the colour and black & white versions which are very similar, but such a different feel.

Many cubans are discouraged to work very much or hard since the average wage of 30 "regular Cuban" pesos a month is the same for a mechanic, pharmacist, waitress, regardless of the hours that are worked. A Cuban who is unemployed receives the same 30 pesos amount monthly from the government.

This system inspired by the former Soviet Union in fact encourages to do everything " por fuera" paid in CUCs . Cubans were then able to build a real parallel economy.
I remember to have been taken in some really clandestine computer and TV shop just
below the rooftops in Habana's periphery with even a 3 months warranty on all items !!!.
An expert beggar on Havana's Malecon can earn in a day more than a doctor in a month.

Very well done! 30 Pesos a month to is our value!? No creativity, no technology, no ...., while the original doctrine was based on human values, evolution of humanity and about all knowledge, science and technology!

Quite a high impact image, especially with the commentary that accompanies it. The colors and patina on the walls are just amazing. ~BV~

This is the most touching photo I have seen .
You see Cuba like a real life and real people , not the one on the street festival .

Great street shot, Carol! Vote

Obviously, the economic model is not "working" for the Cubans.

A strong image with the crumbling building, the trash, the pose and look of the man and the searching child all portraying the decay. Great textures, colors and lcarity. "V"

rich patina on walls crumbling like the economy...seems as if there is no incentive to work..
