Zhang Jia Jie National Forest Park, Hu Nan Provice, China

This was the first national park established in China, a World Heritage Site. It's one of the few places I've always wanted to go in China, as it is one of the truely unique places in the world. Interestingly, it's not a hot spot for photographers in China, and I found out why - it was very hard to get the kind of images I had envisioned before the trip, even I stayed at local's house inside the park. The park shuttle operates between 8 AM to 5 PM, well outside the best hours for photography. The best images I had seen of this place were taken with lots of clouds and fogs, which was hard if not impossible to predict even for locals. So the pictures here really do no justice to the place. A Chinese photographer fell in love with this place and moved to live there for 13 years - that may be what it takes to get the images that catch the true spirit of this place. I bought a book by him as souvenior.
