Meredith Obendorfer

Race category: MTB - Sport, Road - Cat4

Residenze: Menlo Park, Ca

Résumé:
- 1st place Howell Mountain, Beginner Women <35
- 5th place CCCX 2004 Series Beginner Women <35, 3rd place CCCX 2004 race #2
- A whole bunch of middle of the pack finishes at multiple dirt races.
- Wannabe roadie.

My Bikes: Fisher Big Sur hardtail for the dirt, Salsa Campeon for the road, heavy-as-a-tank Giant OCR for road training in the rain. And a rusty Schwinn cruiser, circa 1963, for taking up garage space.

How I support by Bike Habit: I sit in a cube. All day. Under florescent lights and in front of a computer. I say “don’t worry, I’m on top of that!” to my boss.

Best Time on the Bike: Just about any time I nail a technical section of singletrack, it brings back that WOO HOO!! feeling of my first ride down Magic Carpet-- which was my first time on singletrack. I was instantly hooked.

Worst Time on the Bike: Any time I crash on my bike and think I might just puke from the pain. It’s happened a couple times.

My Motto: "Well-behaved women seldom make history." --Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
And “I don’t chase boys, I pass them.”

Favorite Post-Ride Food: Cheeseburger and fries. Mmmm, greasy goodness.

Favorite Web Site: craigslist.org (anything and everything can be found on Craigslist), www.dirtylittlegrrl.com (it's mine), velobella.org (of course), girlbike.com, and my surrogate team: www.teamwrongway.com

Grab Bag: Riding is my cure-all for dealing with lame-ass boys, annoying housemates and demanding bosses. The best things about riding are as follows: 1. Clearing a technical section of singletrack; 2. Nailing clean lines down a speedy descent on the road (eastbound 84!) 3. Realizing you haven’t thought about anything except your legs spinning for the last 3 hours; 4. all the wonderful friends I’ve made through bikes and 5., procrastinating at work by keeping up with all the Bella controversy and gossip. Riding with boys is always fun, but riding with girls is even better. Much love, MO.
