Typhoon Flyby #1...

The next six photographs were taken within 10 minutes of each other, and represent the dying stages of a typhoon. It is now four days later than the photos you just saw. Typhoon Forrest is not "super" anymore; it's just a regular typhoon, but it still can pack a punch. We are about 240 miles northwest of Okinawa. The storm has moved about 550 miles north by northwest and can't survive too much longer in the cooler waters that it is heading toward. Here you can see the eyewall. It has opened up considerably. The clouds appear softer and more layered - not the dark, churning mass we saw in the previous photos.
