Here is another shot of Super Typhoon Forrest. We are in a steep left bank, looking down at the center (just under the wing) and the eyewall. Though you can't see the water surface here, I remember that directly under the eyewall it appeared to be pure white from the sea spray blowing sideways from the wind. It reminded me of Niagra Falls, except that it was flowing horizontally instead of vertically! Yet a mile or two away, the sea was perfectly calm. I like this picture because the clouds in the right-center part of the picture look like ribs. No wonder they give these storms human names! |
