Misery

Sometimes they say that misery loves company. The reason that I titled this shot misery was more the hope that this lizard would put this poor person out of their misery. While I did not sit down to discuss the troubles afflicting this poor soul on the streets of Chicago, the posture makes it pretty obvious that there have been better times.

I have a real problem taking pictures of people that are obviously troubled, but I think that these are the most powerful pictures out there. I often post shots of flowers which seem to be so shallow... simply texture and the color. The shots I pay the most attention to are when browsing the web or a gallery are often those of people in moments of distress. I don't know if it is because I have guilt about being comfortable in my life, if I need reminders of how things could be if I had a chemical imbalance, was in close proximity to a war-torn locale, or had irrrevocable financial issues.

I am lucky in this relative sense. How sad.
