OK, it is not quite the same as the graphitti we have in the US. I was told that this man was writing from memory poems from ancient times. His work had about a 15 minute life before it would be evaporated from the walkway. I assume this temporary nature to the art has some deeper lesson to be learned.
I also believe that his work was exercise for the mind and body as he grows in age.
