Trails Day in Lincoln County is a bit different than at other locations. Due to the diversity of interests of the locals and tourists, Trails Day is more "multi-use" than elsewhere. Trail rides were led for ATVs, 4-wheelers (Jeeps and such) and equestrian, and a hike for those of us so inclined. We had hoped to get some mountain bikers in the event this year, but there was a lack of interest. Hopefully next year the equestrian, hiking and mountain biking will be better represented. Overall, our second annual Trails Day was a success.
The photos here are from the hike, as that is the activity in which I participated. The hike was in two parts, to allow for varying levels of difficulty for the participants. The first part started at the Park Headquarters at Spring Valley State Park, and looped around to the Stone Cabin (an historic structure at the park) for about a total of 2 miles. At this point, we continued on a trail that had been flagged, but was not blazed or otherwise disturbed, to Window Rock. This trail was through much rougher terrain. Total length for those who made both trails was about 7 miles.
The photos are a representative sampling from both trails, and were taken during peak sunlight. Nothing spectacular technically, but they give you an overview of the landscape around this beautiful park.
What beautiful pictures, I love to take pictures like that. I was just going into some old standdard photos and scanning them to put on CD...pictures of just about everything..My grandkids, always said whenever grandma saw some flowers, she had us standing in the middle to take a picture.
