1936 Ford Pickup

This is my truck as it sat in storage for 42 years.

My father gave this truck to me as a plumbers truck when I was 15, in 1967.
He bought it for $80, for hauling supplies to Ojai when he was building our family home in 1962.

I replaced the original Ford V8 Flathead with a Chevy 283 in 1968.
The original mechanical brakes were replaced with hydraulic brakes from a 1948 Ford
Woody I picked up for $10 to salvage the parts.
For the 283 I found a polished aluminum intake manifold to hold 4 2-barrel Strombergs,
and two polished Corvette valve covers to match. I was learning.

I replaced the 283 with a Ford 289 from a 1966 Mustang. Black bucket seats from the 1966 Mustang
are still in the truck now. My gas tank behind the cab is an old style 15 gallon aluminum beer keg of that era.

Someone "wrecked their brand new 1968 Corvette" (this sales story may have some holes.)
I was able to buy the 327 engine and Muncie transmission for $600.
I upgraded the carburetor with a 780 cfm dual feed Holley.
That's the engine that remains in the truck today.

I accidently destroyed my 1936 and 1948 Ford rear ends, and replaced them with a rear end
from a 1958 Oldsmobile, which was popular at the time because if it's durability.

After driving my new Corvette engine locally and to school for a little over a year,
I put my truck in storage in 1970 as I left for college, and to work overseas.

The current restoration began January 28, 2012.
