Man vs. Nature II

Carrollton, Texas view map

So the other day, I posted the photo of these power lines at night.

Then, Wedensday evening, I took the photo of the storm clouds rolling in.

Well, just a few hours after taking that photo, we were awakened a little before 4:00 in the morning with a tornado tearing through our neighborhood.
A couple of our neighbors saw the twister. They said it didn't touch down, but skipped over the tops of the houses. Most of that tree in yesterday's photo is now gone. Three of these power line towers are now twisted piles of metal.

Our house lost shingles, half of our fence, a storage shed in the back yard, and one window exploded inwards. It scattered glass like shrapnel all over the hobby room, embedding pieces of glass in the walls, the desk, and a computer monitor.

Despite a fair amount of damage through the neighborhood, no houses were destroyed and no one was injured.

Also see this photo:

We're pretty sure that's part of our missing fence embedded in our neighbor's wall.

It's been an eventful day.

We're watching it moving in on us tonight. As I watched the new, it struck me that you and Bob had been in the path of distruction. Glad you made it through. Looks serious. Doubt I'll get much sleep later on tonight.
