"Supermarket Dash"

Whole Foods, Plano, Texas

The challenge this week was "Supermarket Dash".
Like several others participating, I was also told I was not allowed to take pictures in the store. I took this shot anyway. I then proceeded to snap a few more. Twice they threatened to go get the shift manager, they claimed it was illegal, and they threatened to call the police and confiscate the film. I kept telling them okay and continued shooting. They never seemed inclined to follow through on any of their threats. Even outside the store where I shot some photos of the shopping carts, they kept trying to tell me I couldn't do that. Funny, I didn't have any problems doing it at all. I wonder why they thought I couldn't? *grin*
I'm just wondering if Ade picked this as the challenge because he knew just how much of a challenge it would really be!

That defintely looks like a fancy supermarket. Maybe they thought you were a spy for a low end competitor!

This week's challenge has been an interesting excercise in guerilla photography.
It was fun, but not something I would want to do every day.

Did good! No one bothered me at all. Probably were thinking, who is that crazy guy? You didn't go to a store you normally go into did you?

Neat shot! She does look like she's in a hurry.
That's why I try to be sneaky and not get caught. hehe

Good captured and challenge well interpreted.

Isn't it strange how it's fine to use your camera phone but not your SLR. :(

And good shot to. Especially moving

Bill, that is my understanding of the rules as well. And they never once asked me to leave. Which is why I kept on shooting. The parking lot was shared by a dozen other businesses, so I'm not sure if they had any say about me shooting out there. Thanks for sharing this.

As an answer to some questions I have seen regarding shooting in stores: in the States, a store is private property and you are allowed in as a "guest". Stores are paranoid that there competition will take shots of layout and out pricing stratagies. Illegal, not until you are asked to leave. Outside of the store there is nothing that they can do to you as long as you are shooting from public property. Again if you are in thier parking lot, that again is private property. I don't agree but these are the facts as I know them.

Yes, someone is in a hurry here - rushing to the cashiers. Still wondering why one should not take pictures in a supermarke (and I admire your boldness ignoring this silly rule).. Nice shot!

Hmmmm, bold! Taking pics right by the registers! Well done :-)

I guess perseverance pays off. Beautiful shot. (You'd think the store would like to have its picture taken. Anyone know why not)?

Very nice! Love the action blur and the focus on the sign. Well done.
Maybe you should have been a photojournalist...they have to come back with something even when told "no". ;-)
