Hi, everybody.

First of all, thanks for your visit.
I am Saulo, born in Brasil and currently living in Norway.
Geophysics, more than what I make my living from, is my passion, just like motorcycling and photographing.
Regarding photography, it happened by accident, like to many of us. I was once riding my motorcycle in Rio de Janeiro, my former city, while all of a sudden a heavy rain fell along with small ice rocks. My motorcycle was alright, but my fingers and the small Nikon Coolpix S220 which I carried in my pocket were not.
After a few days I researched for a good, but still portable camera I could bring along when traveling with my motorcycle. It happened to be a Sony Nex 5N. Excellent camera for a decent price at the time (2012) and took me many months to understand the basics of its functioning, in fact, the basics of how optics function in photography. Exposure and stuff.
After talking about it with my brother Cesar Augusto, also a PBase supporter, he gave me hints to make better photographs so I heard about the rule of thirds for the first time. I also took advices from a friend and then a customer, Marlon Delai. He himself a great photographer with unmistakable taste for framing and colors. At this point I was already hooked, more concerned about making good looking photos (not that I am accomplished at that) than just catching my trips on camera.
So that's how it started. Today I travel as much as possible to capture beautiful images the best I can, going to small and remote cities of Norway. Selecting the photos is also time consuming, so it might take a few weeks until I post new pictures.
As for whose work I admire, in addition to the great photographers of the past that we all should study, my favorite photographers are, of course, my local influences Cesar and Marlon as well as:

- David duChemin, if you ever want to learn from a master
- Arnaud Frich, master of panoramas and night shots
- Bruce Percy, a junkie for landscape photographing
- Darwin Wiggett, exotic photographer just like Bruce
- Mike Browne, the simplest, coolest and effective teacher in youtube
- Sebastiao Salgado, my personal definitive reference for black and white

I know the list is incomplete, but these are my starting points. I never get tired of reading them or looking at their photos, there is always something to learn.
Hopefully you enjoy some of the pictures here and may we exchange experiences.
