03 Gallery March 2003 Before Flooding

OUR PROPERTY & NAVARRE LANDING'S PROPERTY "BEFORE" THEY BEGAN TO FLOOD OUR PROPERTY IN AUGUST 2004

All of the photos in this March 2003 Gallery show conclusively that our property during this time period was at a significantly higher elevation than Navarre Landing’s property. In 2003 and going back into the past maybe thousands of years our property and Navarre Landing including “Larker’s Pond” were both in a Wetlands area. Larker’s property during this time period contained a huge "Pond" (“Larker’s Pond”) in the middle of his property that began a few feet inside his west property boundary adjacent to us, and slowly discharged runoff water naturally to the south into coastal marsh of the Santa Rosa Sound.

Our property being at a higher elevation than Larker’s has Wetlands, too. However, our Wetlands as the photos will prove are actually “Seasonal Wetlands”. This means that these type Wetlands do not have standing water during most of the year, however about two feet below the surface there is a huge hydrological water system. In the past when we experienced heavy rains all of the surface water would drain off rapidly within a couple of hours over to “Larker’s Pond”. The NATURAL FLOW of WATER drained to the east over to Larker’s property on our east boundary and into the natural pond (Larker's Pond") and then as mentioned above flowed slowly south into the Santa Rosa Sound.

In viewing the photos you will note that there are a lot of “cattails” in "Larker's Pond", which are water plants that live in constant standing water. Since our property was at a higher elevation than Navarre Landing we never had any “cattails” growing anywhere on our property during the five plus years we have lived at our residence. Our Wetlands are the last surviving WetLands in the “Heart of Navarre” south of US 98 to the Santa Rosa Sound and they are still currently Federal and State Protected Wetlands. We intend to protect these last remaining Wetlands and our land and we will hold all parties responsible for their destruction. Go to our website http://www.heartofnavarre.com for the whole story.
