All the shots in this gallery were taken on a day trip out to the Farne Islands, which lie off the NE coast of England. The islands attract large quantities of seabirds in the nesting season, I was a little late in the season with this visit, so missed the guillemots and razorbills which had already raised their chicks and gone back to sea. However, the puffins were still present in large numbers, bringing in beakfulls of sand eels for their chicks. The terns (common, arctic & sandwich) were also still raising chicks (including at least one that had just hatched that day) as were the shags and kittiwakes.
I intend to make another trip to the islands this summer, a little earlier in the season this time to get the earlier action. I also plan to make a proper visit to the seal colony next time, the seals I shot on this occasion were just lying around on the other islands.
Lots of shots still to upload, I will be putting up the seal shots last so if they aren't up yet, please check back later in order to see the whole gallery.
Many thanks for visiting, I hope you like the shots. Feel free to leave comments about my work (even to tell me why you don't like them) as I appreciate all genuine feedback.
