Scenic Hiway 395... .. at 60 MPH!!

Did you ever take a trip with someone who doesn't want to stop? That was my frustration riding to Yosemite on Highway 395,
on a perfect day for pics (blue skies, puffy white clouds and clear as a bell), along an incredibly scenic stretch of highway.
So... get ready for some fast movin' bushes and trees in the foreground! Actually, I kinda like some of them, if it doesn't make you dizzy.
I suggest a slideshow on this particular gallery. Then if you turn your head right and left a lot, you'll have a similar experience. Enjoy!

These are beautiful pictures! I plan on coming out next month and making the scenic drive with my kids from Los Angeles. I am planning on driving from the Torrence area via the 395 to Bodie. Any suggestions. Will I see this stretch of highway that you have in your picutres? Kim Gryniewski

Sandi, Thanks for visiting my NE WA galleries. I love these southern hwy. 395 shots. I live 5 miles from the far northern end. Nice scenery up here, too, but not this dramatic. All your landscape galleries are lovely.

hi Sandy, Great gallery. This the highway that you had mentioned to me earlier. I noticed that the forecgorund was blurred, but the background was clear. Did you pan or did you focus on the background and adjust the depth of field? I defienetly will check it out one of these days.

These are beautiful, especially at 60 MPH! How could you not stop and want to take it all in? I only got to see Yosemite once, for a single day, at the tail end of a business trip in winter. But, it was absolutely beautiful.

Fine collection of images Sandi! You deserve a better look at the area than at 60 miles per hour! :) I love the eastern Sierra and will be spending a few days next week there. Sandi - You live in a beautiful country. V Next time. take a tripod, then address the driver below the right ear, ever so gently, about 50 lb force, ant nect time, (s)he WILL stop. One of the reasons I like to drive myself !

LOL, I thought I was the only nut to photograph scenes at 60-70mph :)) you did a fantastic job, would never have guessed you were not standing still except for the couple bushes in the front. Check my Virginia pictures with the barn scenes :D This album deserves a big vote

Hi Sandy......great gallery full of beautiful scenic images...and with the movement in the foreground makes them different and interesting to view.....lots of photographers don't do this well standing still hahahaha... with a tripod....but these are splendid.....I luv Good day for puffy white clouds......how come ya didn't try a panoramic of say seven shots stitched hahaha FANTASTIC...just luv it

I fully understand the conundrum. though my wife would disagree ! Sometimes we stop every 100 feet, other times it is a full sprint to the destination. If i stop along the way, just think what i am missing at my final destination?!??! What if i do not stop, am i missing that one shot i always wanted all my life !?!!? OY Once again, i am enjoying your photography to the utmost.
