Sunday 2nd April brought a visit from two Christchurch flyers, Andrew Palmer and Kevin Crawford, and chalked up a first for the RPMAC strip with the first gas turbine model and the first sustained helicopter flights. Both types put on an impressive show and a second flight by the jet was ruled out only by minor technical problems. However there is a promise of a return visit and talk of a gas turbine helicopter with a 2.5 metre rotor span!

Photography of the jet was difficult because of its speed and of the helicopter because of its upredictable darting motion. I certainly need more practise!
