The "Anti" Anti

This young man prouldly shows me what he thinks
of the anti-smoking movement.

Lesson: You know the deal...the more you tell people NOT
to do something, the more they WILL do it!

Solution: Stop nagging :-)

I love the big smile and the two thumbs up. He definitely is proud of his T-shirt and his right to do whatever he wants. Well shot!

I think that there is a complex psychological ploy at work with things like smoking and resistance to antismoking campaigns. The same principle as motorcyclists and helmets, seatbelts and name it. To follow advice about limiting exposure to something bad requires that you accept that you are mortal and you have a risk. Magical thinking allows individuals to pretend that whatever it is can't possibly happen to them. And it works quite well up until the very last minute when it doesn't anymore.

The photo is quite effective in capturing the bravado that our self-deluded loved ones practice. We can only stand on the sidelines, cross our fingers and hope.

LOL, with shirts like that I think he and Todd (singer/guitarist from Scourged Flesh) would become instant buddies if they met. +V
