The Odd Jobs Man

Took a ride through the Westchester county suburb
of NYC. Saw the guy doing an "odd job" holding the sign.
I wonder why people take such low-paying, boring jobs?

Oh, no need to wonder, I know why cause I did odd jobs
when I was younger. No, I never held signs, but I did work
as a guard, worked in fast food joints, drove vans, etc.
The reason? Hey you do what you gotta do to make ends meet.

Note: Not the greatest shot, I know. This is 100% crop from
the GRD in color, and noise is present. Like I said,
it's not the greatest color camera, but since it's so
small and handy, it always gets the shots.

Excellent composition for an uncropped image, love how the red light echo the sign. Fantastic work. I like the grains, very film like. v

Holding a sign like that ought to be particularly taxing to his arms and morale. Shoot, I hope he's getting paid in gold. V

Yep, doing what he can to keep food on the table. Maybe not exciting but then again, not much pressure or worries either. Nice street candid Sam.

Nice capture of that stretch of lamp-posts, Sam.
It's red light, so you grabbed the opportunity to
snap this man holding the sign :)
Nice candid ~V~

Love the square cropping. +V

BTW we have sightly better labour laws in Australia that means these kind of jobs are payed a little better than in the US, but only just now-a-days, because of all the years of Howard and his conservative government. I'm glad to see the back of Howard and hopefully the labour laws will get better under Rudd and the Labour government.
