Note: Eight years after its release I finally got a 1D Mark III to try out!
I was always intrigued by this camera as it was one of the more controversial
models to come out in recent years. I always avoided it because of its
"bad rep."

On one hand, the camera had the infamous AF issue in which the camera
did not reliably focus, which was a no-no for a 1D series camera.

On the other hand, you had people saying the camera was capable of superb
image quality.

My initial verdict?...The camera does have some "issues" and the focus is just
one of them. There are some white balance, color, and exposure issues as well.

Just in case you're wondering, I did have it checked out by Canon who apparently
saw nothing wrong with the camera, other than a high shutter count. I'm willing to
accept that I still need to "learn" this thing.

Still testing it, but I got it cheap enough where I would keep it if it performed
consistently well. We'll see.
