Cafe Figaro...

The Cafe Figaro was more like a magical mystery tour then a job. I went to work there as a dish washer and ended up the manager. I have no idea how that happened. I do know that the amazing diversity of people ranging from Billie the bum, Jim Brown the football player to then California Secretary of State Jerry Brown was quite educational. Amazing coworkers and regulars, classical music, strong ass espresso and Sangria, Tiffany lamps and French cigarettes created an unparalleled work atmosphere.

Great pictures, thank you. I worked there 1980-82. Anybody else work there at that time? Or, did anyone work with Bobby?

I was one of the guys in your photos. I remember the twins, actors and hanger-ons. Don Johnson and when Johnny Mathis did his photo shoot there.I wish more people would post so we could go down memory lane together.

Wow. What a trip to run across this. I also have pics of Figaro, was a waiter there and almost remember some of those people. Bill Cosby was part owner. He would do bits at night and, if I came in on the following day lunch shift he would be in the corner with a script learining lines.

I waited on Coz, Davy Jones, Dick Smothers and learned how incredibly beautiful Natalie Wood really was one day.
