• Haibao - the blue cartoon symbol for the Shanghai 2010 Expo is shaped like the character for people (Ren 人 ) and the name literally means "Sea Treasures" alluding to wealth derived from sea exports.
• Xiaolongbao (Soup Dumplings 小笼包) are traditional Shanghainese snacks and locally known as Xiaolong Mantou (小籠饅頭), and the Xiaolong refers to the small bamboo trays for steaming. A bit of slivered ginger and vinegar are used for dipping the dumplings before eating.
• Nanxiang Mantou Dian in Shanghai (named after the Shanghai Jiading suburb) has one of the tastiest dumplings.
