U-City is adjacent to Washington University, but I don't think that has anything to do with its name. It was a new town built from scratch early in the 20th century, and many streets are named after universities. I once lived on Colgate Avenue. Stanford was a block south and Amherst a block north. Today, largely because of its proximity to Wash U, it's a diverse and interesting community.
