Removing Hot Pixels

This gallery shows how to create a hot pixel mask with Picture Window Pro, and then how to use the mask to remove hot pixels from your digital images. This is the second version of this tutorial, and has benefited from discussions on the PWP Tips forum in this thread. The current workflow is more streamlined, and incorporates ideas suggested by Kevin Elliot.

The ideas here will also work for other image editing programs, so long as they allow a median blurring transform, and a brightness curve transform, and a way to overlay one image on top of another through a mask.

There are two galleries here -- the first shows how to create a hot pixel mask (this needs to be done only once), and the second shows how to use the mask to remove hot pixels from (one or more) images.
