Making a Hot Pixel Mask

This gallery shows how to use Picture Window Pro to create a mask of the hot pixels on your digital camera.

In its simplest form, it is a 3-step operation. (1) We take a dark frame (the image below called "OpenDark.jpg", the first image), (2) threshold it in HSV space ("DFThresh.jpg", the ninth image), and (3) extract the HSV channel ("Extract.jpg", the 13th image).

In the more thorough form, we take additional care to minimize noise components in the dark frame image before we threshold it.
