It is astonishing to me that you unwittingly made this image based upon a geometric composition. This is exactly what Henri Cartier Bresson did consciously -- find a decisive moment and place it within a geometric order that made the picture speak. Kal has already pointed out what makes it work, but I just wanted t let you know that I consider this a work of pure instinctive photographic genius. Accept it or not -- but I hope you will be able to build on the gifts you have been given, Ruthie.

you're right Kal. i hadn't even noticed all the triangles but now i can see how i've unwittingly made them work! thanks for such a perceptive comment.

An amazing pictuer Ruthie. It's so simple I spent ages looking at it trying to understand what makes it work compositionally so well...I realised it was full of triangles. The hat, the section of stairs, the opening in the jacket, the legs, the arm with the tray...it's perfectly balanced in every sense...that perfect balance complements what comes through about her life...balanced.
