Wait, an other one too add to the list, the one of the stairs up to the Joconde or Mona Lisa, this one is ironic in it's essence
Pitie that the backgroud has too much light and bothers a bit my eyes, but at the same time it also abstracts the image. In any case, I see all the people going up with certain seriousity or solemnity... the blur of the photo helps to give this effect, I have to say, while the strange smile of Mona Lisa is like telling us with her eyes ' directing the message to us' how she is laughing about all of the show mounted behind her image

Phil, it's like you are in my mind! you read my thoughts so well. yes, the fact that people simply tread the steps simply to see the Mona Lisa was exactly why i made this series of 3 at the Louvre. people literally walk in and out again, happy that they have a quick snap of the painting to prove that they were there. the painting is so mysterious, the eyes especially and here they are looking knowingly at me as the photographer and then each viewer, as hordes of tourists rush by. those are eyes that know what i am thinking!

Your juxtaposition of a poster directing Louvre visitors to the Mona Lisa and a burned out stairway of blurred tourists on their to pay homage to the great masterpiece is another Ruthian satire. Could it be that busy feet and shallow minds clutter the steps of Ruthie Hanson's Louvre here? By making these visitors so transparent that we can see right through them, you may be implying that these people are not really in search of artistic inspiration or knowledge, but instead are following the herd to see a very famous picture just because they are expected to do so. Your burned out background suggests that they are making a trek to nowhere, because superficial touristic "experiences" are seldom substantial. If this is your intention here, Ruth, you have succeeded admirably at poking fun at a "must see" tourist attraction.
