Mainland China and Taiwan don't allow direct flights to each other so the otherwise short trip from Beijing to Taipei took hours longer as we had to fly via a connecting city. In our case Hong Kong. Great food court in the HK airport by the way...and tons of high end shopping.

Anyway, I've managed to eat at one of the two Din Tai Fungs every time I've visited Taipei (and intend to keep up that tradition). The dumplings, specifically the Xiao Long Bao, are the best. We visited the original location this time...many floors of steamed goodness.
