Swiss raclette

One of the favorite Swiss national dishes is a special creamy cheese that is melted under a red hot heater
(or in front of a wood fire) and grated on top of boiled small potatoes. Add a few pickled cucumbers (gerkins) and pickled onions and a generous amount of
white wine (usually Fendant from Valais/Wallis) and you have a wonderful evening with friends! This shot was taken in Southern California actually,
at the Swiss Park in Whittier on the occasion of the August 1st National Day for Switzerland.

Damn; I've just come back from a flying visit to Switzerland and never saw this stuff, (never heard of it before!). Another excuse to go back next year ;-)

Certainly sounds delicious - I'll have to try the Swiss Park one of these days!

Heureusement que tu as écrit que cette photo a été prise dans le sud de la Californie car je me serais crue dans un chalet suisse :--) Humm, que c'est bon.
